As for how long it takes to complete the image, I have no clue since I took the screenshot at after 80 seconds, it's still running and is at 1000+ seconds now though I can't tell much of a difference. There's probably less of those speckles. A similar program is POVray which uses the CPU to create raytraced images. There's currently a beta SMP version of it which has been beta for a couple years.
