I need to get a new laptop for starting uni this year, I'm going to be studying computer science so I understand I will be using a computer quite frequently, asides from taking notes.

I'm just looking for the standards you look for in a laptop but I want something pretty powerful for my price. It has to be portable, basically a screen size of 15" is the highest I'll go but I would prefer about 13".

I'm willing to spend at the most £450, £500 if it's WORTH it but that's pushing it.

tl;dr need good, reasonably portable laptop for £450 or less.

This is what I'm looking to buy right now

Thanks.

Define powerful. Do you want it to play games decently, or do you just want it to run your IDE for when you start to play around with databases and programing and the like?

Either way, I suggest you get yourself a dual-core CPU. It would really help in either case. (You might even play around with multi-threading.)

I will have my desktop too and I wouldn't mind being able to play games (low settings - med settings) but what's most important is the speed of the laptop.

What do you reckon about the current one I am interested? Link in OP.

Posted on iPod Touch.
