Why did you have the urge to test a PSU that was smoking? o.o

At least you did that without anything connected. It's rare for any PSU to go in such a dramatic fashion, especially new ones.

Most high quality PSUs have some protection just in case they "POP" so I don't think any of your components were damaged.

Just RMA it, might have been a faulty unit off the production line.

Actually most power supplies do fail extremely dramatically, Jonnyguru even had one outright explode on him. It's just that Corsair, PC Power and Cooling, and Seasonic make really good shit so you don't hear about it from people smart enough to buy from them most of the time.

I like the smell that corsair's PSUs have.

i dont when the smell is burning

That's an elusive smell, I've never smelt that one, thankfully. That sucks though, they are my favorite PSU manufacturer, you just got the 1 in 10000 that fail within a month

they don't make PSUs for fucks sake lol. every company that shadow listed uses seasonic's PSUs.

and i am quite fond of the smell of burning electronics. solely from when i cause it to happen while soldering things in project labs.

Wrong, all three make their own and when you look at the designs it's extremely obvious that even the internal electrical design is unique to each. It's Antec that used to be OEMed by Seasonic.
