Bah, enough of you teenagers getting pissed at not being 17, zomg.If you sound around 17 you are fine, don't take it personally. lol My first was Mario bros. and Duckhunt for NES Link to comment
jeN Posted March 22, 2008 Content Count: 5086 Joined: 04/13/07 Status: Offline Share Posted March 22, 2008 When we first tried to implement the rule about age to talk or whatever, I was for it. The more I think about it, it's insanely unfair. Not everyone who is young is annoying. Some of the younger players here are more mature than some of the older. Sometimes it's surprising to find out their ages; Havok, Sol, Bron. But, yes majority of little kids on mic sound the same and/or are annoying. Link to comment
Captain Colon Posted March 22, 2008 Content Count: 670 Joined: 02/14/08 Status: Offline Share Posted March 22, 2008 (edited) Yeah, they do all sound the same. I don't know if it is because their mics suck or that all mics do that to kid voice frequencies (or whatever scientific reason you can come up with). It's mostly because the voice codec is extremely low-bitrate so any resonance you have in the extreme high or low frequency ranges tends to get cut off. My voice booms through walls IRL but I pretty much just sound like a 16yo nerd in-game cause of the compression combined with the dynamic response of an average set of computer speakers. With the in-game voice codec there's pretty much just shrill, normal, and deep voices. Can't really tell much difference unless someone has a particularly unique voice like scraps. I'm pretty sure someone says he sounds like Ray Romano at least once every day. There's one guy who sounds exactly like Microsoft Sam too but I can't remember who he is, it's Something Wolf. Captain Colon Posted March 23, 2008 Content Count: 670 Joined: 02/14/08 Status: Offline Share Posted March 23, 2008 It's not so much their voices that are annoying, but the fact that they NEVER know when to shut up. It's not like they're even having a conversation with anyone, it's just "guuuys let me fly the chopper i know what im doing just trust me okay guys come on i know what to do okay guys guys guys guys guys guuuuyyyyyyyssssss" Link to comment
VirDeBello Posted March 23, 2008 Content Count: 1755 Joined: 06/06/07 Status: Offline Share Posted March 23, 2008 The rule is basically if you mic spam or just do stupid stuff with it, then you git kicked and then following up with bans for 10 mins and so on and so forth. Annoying voices is an opinion not a fact. Mic spamming is a fact because we can all identify playing music on the mics or screaming into the mics as mic spamming. I am pretty sure thats how the rule goes for that. Link to comment

I am pretty sure thats how the rule goes for that. Actually mic spamming is also an opinion (I happen to enjoy it when someone plays the right music at the right volume), it's just when the majority of the server has the opinion "this is fucking annoying" that action is usually taken. There's one guy that plays at night and communicates with nothing but an arnold soundboard and an occasional line of text; nobody's ever had a problem with him. It's quite self-explanatory when you consider that spam is, by its definition, unwanted. If everyone's getting a kick out of it then it's not really spam. That's the reason I tend to be pretty laid-back about the spamming rule at least. If nobody's complaining then I'll let them be, but if nobody wants to hear it then see you in 24 hours.
