Maybe a bit more so like if you make a build max out is $1,300. I need win7, wirelesscard, and a dvd drive because I don't have those. I would prefer i7/amd six core whatever but whatever you build I'll most likely go with.

A good mobo x58 is the Asus P6T/P6T deluxe which comes with amazing onboard sound so you don't need to dish in extra money for a soundcard. . The best i7 processor IMO is the i7 930 because it has a higher stock BCLK than the i7 920, is only a bit more expensive, vastly cheaper than the 940+, and can be overclocked to match, get close enough, or even outmatch nearly all the 940+ i7 models.

And someone else needs to suggest a wireless card because wireless is terrible for gaming and I personally don't (or rather won't) have anything to do with it.

 

Average expected price: $989 before case if you go with a 500gb hdd and a not-cheapest burner. Cases are honestly one of the few things best bought at retail, if there's any sort of computer store near you it's probably worth it to go and see if they have a nice inexpensive coolermaster midtower there that will cost you less than paying $16 shipping on a case.

 

Also there seems to be some sort of strange shortage of nvidia cards at the moment, newegg has literally TWO modern nvidia cards in stock right now. WTF?

You want a good case for a good price, get the NZXT Gamma. I have it, pretty sweet case...
