Would you happen to know why they did this? I mean, it was fine like it was, if anything I liked it better like that.

 

Because every Steam game is like this now.

Ones I've played: MW2, L4D, L4D2, BC, TF2.

 

It's just something that Steam wants to see happen I guess.

Not my favorite feature.

I haven't tried it but people say you can use the command: setinfo name

 

Some people say it works fine, some people say it changes your name but then changes it back a second later, and some people say it works but your name changes back on a map change.

That wont work, sourecmod, eventscripts etc haven't been updated to work with the new build.

Use MM:S 1.8.2 and an SM 1.3.3+ snapshot, and it should work (it was updated like 2 hours after the CSS update). 3rd-party plugins may be broken due to some hook changes, but all the official ones will work..

I don't know about Eventscripts though, as I don't use that.
