Could be fixed with a newer (or older) driver for his video card, could be the PC overheating, etc. He needs to either update his video card's driver or revert it back if he has the latest and try other games before thinking that it is indeed a hardware problem. Id try re sitting the card and moving the plugs...... other dvi output..
