Yesterday via automatic updates I got some new update that now requires me to click my username whenever I boot my computer or when I bring it back off of the screen saver. I don't have to type in my password, I just have to click the user that I want to use XP with. Not that big of a deal, just annoying. Does anyone know how to get it back to where the computer will boot straight through to the desktop without me having to do anything? I looked in control panel -> user accounts and it appears that the only two options I have are to keep it the way it is now or set it to where I have to type in a password every time.

Any help is appreciated. :usa2:

If you want your computer to not go to this menu: Welcome_Sceeen_Full_20060812.jpg Then make sure you only have 1 account with no passwords.

you can also try this:

1. Click Start, Settings, and Control Panel.

2. Open User Accounts.

3. Click Change the way users log on or off.

4. Uncheck the Use the Welcome screen.

5. Click Apply Options.

not its not going to sleep or hibernating. i havent allowed it to do that for a while since it would always lock up as soon as id bring it back.

labarr thats the option i was talking about where it sounded like if i told my computer not to use the welcome screen, then it would require me to enter a password each time. but i just unchecked that box and im going to give it a try. i really cant remember if my one account uses a password. dont think it does
