Building my first rig, ever :)

So I absolutely know nothing (well except from what I read online) about computer parts minus the very basics. I've been paying for over priced shit for too long so I've decided to build a new desktop.

Mind you this is all on newegg.ca, so pricing is different and I have to pay a bunch of shipping. I'm trying to keep it under 1k and with all this I am at $1066.17 with shipping and not with my $30 rebates wooo.

the RAM is not compatible with the MOBO, the MOBO can only handle up to 1333 and the RAM is 1600, you let the RAM run on 1333 but there is no need for it just get 1333, which should be a lot cheaper

 

also get brands that are well known, that you know that are good like OCZ, Corsair, ASUS, MSI

 

 

here is better RAM, it costs a little more but it's bettert hen the 1 you picked ^^:

dont buy the GTX 460 its been known to overheat and be a bitch, id say GTX 275 or something from the ATI 5*** series

I found this card and I'm not sure if it's comparable, but its a couple of series under the AT HD 5870 cards I believe. http://www.lucomputers.com/site/product_parts_detail.asp?class=2&cid=41&id=16378

 

I see a lot of complaints about the sound of the fan in the 955 but free shipping is enticing -_-

 

The biostar mobo looks like lego to me, I only picked it up cause it saves me about $50 when coupled with the PSU.

The Mobo is nice but if he is not gonna sly/xfir..WHY? its nice but a little expensive from what he had!

Cooler.. if he is not gonna OC..WHY???? especially such a big one..

If your not gonna go fermi.. get a ati 5***. It does get hot. I dont know though do what you want.

And you cooler is fine dont listen to regional the one he suggest is even bigger.. they would both fit in the case. I have that case with a slightly bigger cooler! It was a pain to run some of the wires.. If you are not gonna OC the cheap one you chose will do the trick I would prolly even suggest staying stock!

Dont get that GPU..as mentioned by wrathek before. Performance price sucks on the 5830!! go with a 5770 if you wanna save a couple bucks or go for the 5850!

Save a few bucks and get a 5770. They are cheap fast and reliable. Sapphie is a good manufacture FYI

i was referring to ASUS and MSI in general, cuz they don't make RAM

well i didn't really like the GTX460 he chose either but he wanted it so ...

also i have a OCZ PSU never had any difficulties with or so, so don't be saying that it's not as good as corsair, we all know that but it works and it never let me don't, so for his price range it's good and it will do the job.

 

also the 965 is just as good as all the others i know loads of peeps who have that and they all like it, so Zealot stick with the CPU, don't change it

That fact that it "works" doesnt make it good... do some reading on jonnyguru and you'll understand.. now for the price the OCZ is ok (I have it 500W same model and jonny reviewed the 600 decently) but a corsair for one would me much quieter and two better quality/more reliable!

 

About the CPU we were just saying that the increase of .2 Ghz isnt worth the 20 bucks...for that matter you can OC that much using stock cooler. Its the same CPU..

That 20 bucks can go somewhere more useful LIKE A CORSAIR PSU!!!!
