I still dont get why people buy 17 inch laptop though..why not just use a PC and a netbook or slightly better performing notebook around 13 or 14 inches max.. but thats my opinion! Actually my laptop (the one missing the screen), was a 17 incher. I bought it because best buy was out of the 14 inch toshiba I wanted, and it was the only laptop in my price range that was comparably speced, they were both on sale. Before you judge me on going to best buy my old Dell Celeron single core had passed away and I needed to have a working computer. Link to comment

I honestly can't stand the keyboards and screens on netbooks. A screen size of 13" is the bare minimum for me. The 15.4" (1680x1050) screen I have now is pretty good. I only really like it because the pixels are so dense. I would prefer a 17" screen though. I wouldn't mind carrying around a 17" laptop. It's all about personal tastes. Link to comment

I just don't understand why people buy laptops strictly for gaming. Gaming notebooks are such a waste of time and money. 1 Link to comment

The only reason I got a 3650 in my ThinkPad is because it allows me to do game development while I'm out. It's good enough to run Source fairly smoothly and that is all I really need. Link to comment

If you needed a computer you could have bought PC.. or a smaller laptop ;) I judge you all I want!! your 17 inch laptop is almost as big as a pc! Link to comment

I think I was reading benchmarks that said it gets pretty solid FPS in recent games like BFBC2 and it could definitely run Source games. I mean there's always the option of building my own PC, but a laptop offers some options that are helpful for college. Link to comment

I should have clarified I needed a luggable (17 inchs is a bit silly) computer, and it was either going to be the laptop I bought, or I was going to have to borrow an ibook G4, which was never going to happen.. I hate macs. Link to comment

I hate macs. 15.6 or 14" are very nice to carry around. I'd go for the upcoming ASUS UL80JT, which claims it can get up to 12 hours of battery life. The HP ENVY line does claim to have up to 13.75 hours of battery life with the extended battery, but I wouldn't believe that 'till I see it myself. Link to comment
