CollieFlower Posted July 29, 2010 Content Count: 1406 Joined: 09/25/08 Status: Offline Share Posted July 29, 2010 (edited) here is a question that will be asked time and time again.... intel or amd? take the poll and leave a reply one why you think the other is better.' i my self like AMD for the fact that it seems faster then intel. only draw back though, is it seems to run hotter then intel. my old HP laptop with an AMD duel core 2.0GHz ran on avg at 80*c. my new intel duel core 2.2GHz acer runs at 65*c on normal but i have hit the temp trip i have set at 90*c playing CSS. Mine runs at 60C AT MOST, and that is even when I am doing intense calculations on the CPU. I prefer AMD. It's a better bang for your buck. I would only suggest Intel if you need "top of the line" stuff, at the expense of a much higher pricetag. Link to comment

Tweezy Posted July 29, 2010 Content Count: 3791 Joined: 08/08/09 Status: Offline Share Posted July 29, 2010 AMD - More power, less reliability Intel - More reliable, not as much power. If you want a reliable computer which will last around 5 years, intel. If you want a computer for around a year, amd... Also, if you are doing design work, intel because they have hyperthreading. I do not hear high fail rates with AMD CPUs. Link to comment

First off, there is sooooo much bull-crap in this thread, it all depends on ur budget. some of the amd x3 core can be turned to x4 core, that is one thing to consider. another is the cost of the motherboard+ram. for a really cheap build, go AMD, as like i said, the majority of X3 cores can be turned into x4 with the right motherboard. keep the cost way down+ extrs core. for a mid range go for an i5. not i7 (socket 1156)as it is shit bang for buck and i3 not enough power. for a high end system, Intel all the way. good boards and cpu's, good deals on the ram, etc..... one thing though, in a couple of month, intell is releasing a new platform, which will majorly drop the price on everything. 3 Link to comment

If any of you guys are wondering "wtf AMDs X3s can be turned into X4s?" that's mainly because AMD shipped some of their X3s as X4s with just one physical core shut down and it can be easily turned on with a program I forgot the name of which... lol.
