Wrathek Posted August 27, 2010 Content Count: 1839 Joined: 09/28/08 Status: Offline Share Posted August 27, 2010 lol. It's just as gay as the ipad. no tablet will be even remotely interesting to me until it is running a real OS. the iPad, just as it is, but running OSX would've been perfection. Link to comment
jazzy Posted August 27, 2010 Content Count: 2187 Joined: 06/28/09 Status: Offline Share Posted August 27, 2010 (edited) The main problem is there will never truly BE a iPad killer, all of Apple's products are extremely successful due to amazing hyping done by Apple, coupled with alright hardware to boot. They are sort of innovative in their own way. The reason you see Mac's have such a low os stock market share is because the mac os itself was built towards consumers, about 50% of windows machines are running as servers or as business computers (they should be running linux though!). I think Apple as a whole is pretty successful, but I don't think I'd buy a product like the iTouch, iPhone, iPad, simply because the latest showcases of application censorship done in their app store, completely disgusting for a company to deny an author privilege and makes me want to jailbreak anyone's iphones even more. I think that anyone can technically "kill" the iPad, but the marketing team at Apple is pretty fucking good at propaganda and anyone like HP, Dell, etc can in no way match up to them. What honestly happens though is that you have your budget companies come in and totally fuck apple's market up, but apple just pushes out advertisements to make it look like they are winning. edit: i also love how i just contradicted myself Edited August 27, 2010 by Jazzyy Link to comment
trakaill Posted August 28, 2010 Content Count: 3736 Joined: 11/30/07 Status: Offline Share Posted August 28, 2010 ^ this kid has a point... even after they came out with this supposed reception issue on the iphone 4 which I have not experience with friends iphone they still had sold 13 mil in the first week. I think it will be hard to kill it .. Wrathek I understand your point but it seems they will never be able to operate a decent OS that will not kill the battery fairly quickly. until they decide to use something like linux which seems to be more balance I would say between a full OS and shit tablet OS.. I think we are screwed! That tablet seems nice though but the 6 hour bettery life still bothers me I really like the 10 on the ipad.. i do not own one but if I did I would like it Link to comment

The main problem at this point is waiting for a operating system that runs on the architecture that the cpu will have. I would like to see something like Damn Small Linux though. But ubuntu 10.04 should be good with their awesome cloud syncing service, if it can run, that is. Link to comment
Lux Posted August 28, 2010 Content Count: 6712 Joined: 03/06/08 Status: Offline Share Posted August 28, 2010 I like my iTouch. I get easy internet access on it so I can browse whilst I'm downstairs or something (really I'd never be interested in having internet outside my house....if I'm out I'm busy....hence I'm not going to be on the internet. That's more a stab at people other than me though. I get applications that I can use when I'm bored around the house or in a hotel. I'd say in transit but I get car sickness and reading/generally doing shit on the iTouch would make it worse. But that aside......the applications are good....they vary from funny apps to really interesting or important information...and because I can jailbreak it they're all free. Got to admit....I'd never have bought the iTouch if I couldn't get apps for free. I can listen to music and I don't have to worry about running out of space...the battery life when you're just playing music is longer than you'll ever need. Main annoyance about this is iTunes.....I don't like all this syncing crap.......they do it all to try and stop piracy but all it really does is make people's lives that little bit more annoying. When it comes to the iPhone......I make maybe 5 calls on my mobile a week tops (because I use my house phone or internet to arrange to go out.......and again when I'm out I'm either with people or just generally busy...no need to call people.) and I'm not going to pay like £30/£40 a month or pay the extra inflated prices for a pay as you go iPhone just so that I can do that. I can buy a very decent phone for £20...put £10 credit on it and I'm good for at least a year. I'm guessing the general point of an iPad is that it's a bigger version that costs more.........er why would not just a laptop? That said I'm not a big fan of laptops anyway.....I see no need for them (for most people)..but if you're going to get either one might as well get a laptop. Link to comment

kool Posted August 29, 2010 Content Count: 429 Joined: 10/21/07 Status: Offline Share Posted August 29, 2010 Anything that sits in the same category as an apple product will be a killer. For example, all smart phones released were supposed "iPhone killers", like the evo, or blackberry torch. You get the idea. Link to comment
