Hyperviolence Posted September 2, 2010 Content Count: 108 Joined: 08/13/10 Status: Offline Share Posted September 2, 2010 I'm sorry if this belongs in a different forum. So, the other day, my steam account got "hijacked". Tried my password multiple times, tried restarting my computer, everything, etc. I sent a support ticket to steam and decided to just let it go and see if they can handle it. Today, I get up, go over to my computer to check my email, only to find that this is up on my browser: http://www.l33thackers.com/. Pretty silly, childish website about hacking it seems like. Thing is, I have no roommates. I live in an apt with my girlfriend, and she didn't go to that site. So, I'm thinking someone is fucking with my computer from somewhere else, and put up that "l33thackers" thing to be funny. Because I don't think anyone who belongs to a community called l33thackers would actually be able to fuck with anyone else's computer but their own. Also, this is important, but shhhhshhshhh, I steal my internet from my neighbor. I'm sure that has something to do with it. Anyone, if you know anything about this, please let me know. Paralyzed Posted September 2, 2010 Content Count: 3729 Joined: 10/14/07 Status: Offline Share Posted September 2, 2010 I thought it's barely impossible to hack any steamaccounts anymore :/ Steam really did a great job on making it highly secured.. Just don't forget to verify your e-mail, people can't change pass if they can't log into your e-mail. I have no idea what can cause the problem that your account gets hacked. Make sure you never click on unknown links. Link to comment

starbucks Posted September 2, 2010 Content Count: 1573 Joined: 02/19/09 Status: Offline Share Posted September 2, 2010 I got hacked 3 times in my gaminglife now, and even without going on such sites, phishing, giving my password to other people or many other things. My password was just one little word. But I have my current account for a very long time now, and I didn't get hacked for now, my password is now a long word plus random numbers, but I think a good hacker can even hack this one. So maybe you got hacked by a random guy or something. :/ Link to comment

Harry Posted September 2, 2010 Content Count: 2085 Joined: 04/19/10 Status: Offline Share Posted September 2, 2010 (edited) Reformat and reinstall Windows. Also, you could try giving Alicia Evans, also known as "lancepk" a letter complaining about their forum and the messages you've gotten, at: 11 Lygon Walk Tolladine road Worcester, Worcestershire WR4 9RG United Kingdom Or email at lance.godfrey@sky.com. Their "h4x0r" forum is pretty new (created domain in July 2010). Yeah, I am bored right now. Edited September 2, 2010 by Harry Link to comment
Hyperviolence Posted September 2, 2010 Content Count: 108 Joined: 08/13/10 Status: Offline Share Posted September 2, 2010 (edited) I haven't gone to any sketchy websites, just the ones I usually go to, which I know are safe. I haven't given anyone any information. The thing is, since that window to that l33thackers.com website was up in my browser, I'm thinking someone is doing it through my computer. And since I'm stealing internet, I'm thinking it could be the person I'm stealing it from. See, I don't know shit about network security or any kind of computer security. Does anyone know if you are stealing the internet from someone, can they access your files? What needs to be clear is that I didn't visit http://www.l33thackers.com, it was up on my computer this morning. And I didn't go to it. Also, I thought I should add this: the owner of that website posted his phone number in a thread on their forums. Anything I can do with that? Harry Posted September 2, 2010 Content Count: 2085 Joined: 04/19/10 Status: Offline Share Posted September 2, 2010 Please stop advertising their link... If you're on someone else's network, yes, they can reroute your traffic. Don't think they would, nor would it benefit them. They should not be able to access your files unless your browser has a flaw in it, that would allow them to do that. Unless you're using IE6 and run hot-porn.exe, then you're probably safe. Not to make assumptions, but it looks like you're friends with them or something, or you're just not using your brain AT ALL... "hay posting the URL a ton, that's totally not advertising their site!". If you aren't doing this and really think you might have a virus, just delete and reinstall Windows. Link to comment
Hyperviolence Posted September 2, 2010 Content Count: 108 Joined: 08/13/10 Status: Offline Share Posted September 2, 2010 Why would I advertise that website at all? I'm posting it to see if anyone can get any information from it. It's a stupid "hacking" website ran by what it seems to be 12 year olds. Don't be so fucking silly. If you don't feel like helping, fine. Just don't turn this into a thread about me trying to advertise something, because that's not what this is about. I mean, did you even read anything I've posted, or are you just jumping to ridiculous conclusions because you saw a link? Reformat and reinstall Windows. Note that in it, I did not advertise their site. Link to comment
