Although I hate Intel (fucked us over a lot with sockets), you shouldn't buy a Phenom II X6, they don't match up performance wise to Intel's i5 quad cores (or is it i3?). Don't bother buying parts and saying they are going to be used in 5-10 years, your warranty runs out after 2 and after that it eventually dies, making your high-end purchase useless. But you should stay atleast 600w> since you're running SLI + AMD cpu + a ssd + a hdd + a pci card. I'd recommend you get an extremely good case, you need amazingly good air flow for SLI'ing cards and you seem to have a lot of ram, they heat up rather quick. I recommend COOLERMASTERS or whatever, or Antec, they have alright cases. You should also get a buttload of fans!

im aiming for 3 years :). the only thing i plan on reusing for the next rig is the psu. yeah i went with the 6 cores because i do a lot of graphic art rendering, more so than gaming.

but the fan advice is solid. I have an old antec, the design that made them popular back in 2002. i have 3 fans set up right now, i guess ill fill up the fan slots in my case and add another two fans. this is what my case looks like:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v281/shizzits/nxy.jpg(i painted the case, tinted the window, and added the fan controller in the top)

if i cant tame the heat that way, i guess ill have to do what everyone else does... remove the side panel and prop a big house fan to blow directly on everything lol.

Spending that kind of cash I dont know why you dont build intel 930? Overall performance are similar and from what I read better for gaming?!!

And I never heard of that mobo brand... but what ever if things start cooking we'll find out ;)

And youll regret that seitek I promise you that!!

i didnt build the intel because i wanted to keep the price below 2300. i spent the bulk of my money on video cards, ram, monitor, and hdds. i was aiming for around 250 but i decided to gamble with the 6 core, we'll see if the future proves this a wise gamble.

if not i can always upgrade!

and yeah i think i will send the seitek back. though everything else shipped and it didnt. its order is a little odd so i dunno, maybe it wont get sent at all. i didnt realize it had no antighost among other things.

oh well, if nothing else it was only $60. i can just buy a different one if it comes down to it.

basically building a new computer. if someone could look it over and let me know if everything will work out that'd be awesome.

not particularly interested in advice for product choice.

thanks for your time. should have this by late next week.

Substitute CPU for either AMD Phenon II X4 965 or Intel i7 920.

Corsair PSW simply because of reliability factors

Just get 6 GB of DDR 1600+ RAM, what you have is overkill

Crossfiring two 5770s isn't a good idea imo, they're not bad cards but if you're willing to spend this kind of money you're better off avoiding them and upgrading.

You're better off getting one 5870 or a GTX 480 (I NEVER suggest the 5970, it's the new GTX 295)

Also, if you really, really want to go for gold think about liquid cooling and getting a case spacious enough to hold one. Graphics cards these days run at 50-80 idle/load stock, cooling it all down is always a nice investment.

sound advice potshot. unfortunately all the hardware is sitting in front of me.

I kinda wish i had known that the 790 chipset cant support 6 core without a bios flash. a bios flash which is impossible to do without a supported cpu running.

ditched the x6 for a x4.

from what ive read, it's for the better.

wasted money, live and learn.

(no i dont have both processors)

What case is that?

It's made by Antec.

The case is a 1030 of some sort, I don't recall more specific facts.

Here is a better pic of the case - nxy.jpg

The only other pic I have of this case online (the hardware pictured inside is not current) - P5210010.jpg
