The SteamGamers Scrim League - Winter Competition

----------------------------

What is the SGSL?
The SGSL is the SteamGamers Scrim League. It was run by SteamGamers until late 2009, when it was discontinued. It was very popular back then and is being brought back for the winter season.

What is a scrim/scrim league?

"Scrim - Short for scrimmage. Used most notably by clans, or teams in first person shooter, online games. Mainly used for practice."

Scrims are basically matches that you play with another team. They are very popular in Counter Strike: Source, which is why we have had a scrim league in the past.

Team Requirements

-----------------------------

The following are requirements for you to have a team to play in the SGSL:

  • Each team member must be a Reg+ on the forums

  • The amount of members on each team must be five (5) with spares if applicable

  • You may have up to two (2) spares per team if someone cannot make it

  • if you do not have at least three people playing one match, you automatically forfeit yourself from that match

  • Each team must have an appointed Team Captain

  • When your team has been chosen, there will be a sign-up thread for all teams.

SGSL Rules

-----------------------------

The following are the rules for the SGSL:

  • SteamGamers server rules apply to all matches and servers. If you break a rule, you will be banned.

  • Professionalism is encouraged. You're playing in a serious match, so it's best to act maturely.

  • Although an obvious rule, no hacks or bots are allowed in the competition. If you are caught using hacks, you will be permanently banned from all servers and your team will be disqualified

  • You may use ventrilo to co-ordinate with your team-mates. Ventrilo channels may or may not be set up in the SteamGamers Ventrilo to accommodate your team.

  • All screenshots, demos, and other information needs to be submitted via a form for Match Results. It will be similar to the disputes form.

  • Team Captains are required to take screen shots of the scoreboard at each half time.

Match Overview

-----------------------------

Each match will be played in the following format:

  • Each match will consist of two halves
  • Each half goes until one team reaches 8 points (or round wins)
  • After the half is over, the teams switch and play to 8 for the second half;
    • Ex. Team 1 plays Team 2. Team 1 wins 8-6; both teams switch, and now they are on opposite teams. The second half is then played until a team reaches 8.
      • If the score is 8-8, a sudden-death match is played and the first team to win five (5) rounds is declared the winner (out of 8)

Map Lists and Scheduling

-----------------------------

The maps being played for the winter SGSL competition will be Official Counter Strike: Source maps.

The following is the list of maps that will be played:

de_cpl_mill

de_dust2

de_nuke

de_season

de_tuscan

de_contra

  • List may be changed at any time with or without
    warning

The tournament will start in mid-late October, and run until the end of November, at best. It may run in to December if popular.

Match Disputes

------------------------------

If you need to dispute a match for any reason, a form will be set up to accommodate you. In the form, you will need to fill in the following information (form should be set up for you):

  • Match Name (Team 1 vs. Team 2)

  • Match date (In DD/MM/YYYY format)

  • Result (W/L and score)

  • Comments (include a good reason of why you would like to dispute this match)

There will be appointed people to handle all disputes in the SGSL competition. These disputes will be public, so members of the opposing team or your team-mates may discuss the dispute and try to resolve it in a fashionable manner.

Demo Requirements

-------------------------------

For each SGSL Official Match, you must record a demo of the whole match, showing the following:

  • The Console Status (type "status" in console, and show this in the demo, or make a picture file attached with demo)

  • The whole match should be recorded, start to finish

  • More demo requirements to be added

If a demo is not posted or messaged to a higher up, the match will not be counted.
