If that doesn't work then remove everything except steam.exe and the folder named steamapps, then run steam.exe and let it update automatically. You won't have to reinstall your games because you'll still have them in your steamapps foldr. Link to comment

It's the process ran when you play css, hl2, tf2, l4d, etc. Check the task manager to see if hl2.exe even starts up when you try launching the games or if it does and then closes. 1 Link to comment
Danno Posted October 31, 2010 Content Count: 1030 Joined: 05/09/10 Status: Offline Share Posted October 31, 2010 sounds like either: 1) an hl2.exe error 2)account verification error is commonly hand and hand with this. are you logged in somewhere else? 3)properly installed? probably the games are since they all do that. maybe steam....? Hope one of these helps, and if not, that one of the others can find out whats wrong. Good Luck! Link to comment

Maybe if you'd be smarter and read my post then you wouldn't have had to reinstall every game. Delete clientregistery.blob from your steam folder and then restart steam. If that doesn't work then remove everything except steam.exe and the folder named steamapps, then run steam.exe and let it update automatically.
