duhoh Posted November 3, 2010 Content Count: 716 Joined: 01/16/10 Status: Offline Share Posted November 3, 2010 you tell em jen. potshot's recommendations are solid. i'm surprised at the low cost of a relatively high end i7 build overall. i'd take that build of his and then buy a beefy video card and not worry about crap for a while. why not get a beefy video card anyways? at that resolution, it would barely strain itself, therefore increasing it's reliability. especially if price isn't an issue. you never force your own recommendations on a client especially if they made it clear about something. never presume that as the "expert" your preferences are superior compared to theirs. that's terrible customer support, and makes you look like a big wannabe know-it-all. letting them know what options they have though, that's another story. why the heck would she be willing to spend around $1500 for older video cards? she's not shopping apple. 2 Link to comment

jeN Posted November 3, 2010 Content Count: 5086 Joined: 04/13/07 Status: Offline Share Posted November 3, 2010 (edited) lol I have no real budget concerns, I already have the money just sitting there. It's more of do I just save it and spend on something else, or buy a new computer type thing. I could go higher, I could go lower but all in all I want the best for the money I'm spending so I don't have to upgrade for another 5 years. I just figured 1500 is the best budget for me since it's hard for me to justify spending anymore on a computer when it could go to just saving up for the future yakno. Though I do really like potshots build and already have it in my newegg shopping cart for a grand total of $1,225.87. Which isn't that bad, and I could probably buy the other video card now and crossfire but MEH. Edited November 3, 2010 by jeN Link to comment

I'd spend $150 on a Corsair HX750w since it's modular, that way you dont have 30 extra wires sitting in your case. Other than that, you could get a cheaper case depending on what you like/if you are overclocking or not. Link to comment

Also don't forget....Black friday is just around the corner meaning price drops everywhere especially on monitors and TVs! I am waiting till then to buy my setup... Prices will drop like flies! also there should be a release of new video cards from nVidia not sure about AMD/ATI but sometime this month which also means price drop on video cards...If I were you I would revisit your options and build in a couple of weeks! GOOD LUCK! -Ronen Link to comment
