Anyone who's savvy enough to know about the names of cards and their performances would probably understand that a card almost double the price is going to be better even if it's 1 year older. Coffee Crisp Posted November 15, 2010 Content Count: 4960 Joined: 06/20/07 Status: Offline Share Posted November 15, 2010 The 6800 series cards are meant to be mid-range cards, don't look at the model numbers. They're pretty much replacements of the 5770/5750. The top-lines should be out soon and some new drivers to improve performance for the two present cards. As for the GTX 580, I really wouldn't get that card unless I was running a 30" monitor where I can max out resolution at 2560x1600 and average >60 fps. With my HD5850 I can run most games (except Crysis, about 25-40) on my 22" monitor at 60+ fps at 1680x1050/1600x1200 with all the graphical goodness turned up along with AA and AF. Anything higher at the same resolution is honestly just a waste of money and unnecessary if I can be satisfied with significantly but lower performance for less than half the price. Link to comment

Mostly because this type of hardware testing is so utterly shit, so inexcusibly bad, that it won't make a difference. There's not a single hardware reviewer on the planet earth that can probably give trustworthy results. Hardware needs to be tested about 100~ times if you ask me, and then average the results. That's overkill you say? What's overkill is that results can be tipped by an inch depending on the hardware you mix with it, it's also hard to accumulate accurate results when you test it once.
