The main thin you want to do is get a camera that has a lot of cheap and good quality lenses available. Don't buy a Pentax if you want to end up spending $500 on average for good lenses (I have one and finding lenses is a bitch). I would just go for a Canon or Nikon, it doesn't really matter too much what body you get unless you're serious about photography, it's about the lenses, when you start getting good and have a portfolio to back you up, then you can go all out. 500 for a DSLR is NOT a sick fucking camera... it would in fact be quite crappy.. 700 would be you very bottom... This is BS. TL;DR - buy a DSLR that has a wide range of available lenses for reasonable prices (10MP is enough). Link to comment
