Paralyzed Posted December 23, 2010 Content Count: 3729 Joined: 10/14/07 Status: Offline Share Posted December 23, 2010 I totally have no knowledge of processors and such, but as I'm ordering a PC/laptop I was wondering what Processor is better and if the price matters in this case... So hopefully any of you can help me out choosing a good one. Intel® Core™ i7 Processor 620M(2.66GHz,4MB cache) Intel® Core™ i7 740QM (1.73 Ghz, 6MB, 4C) Intel® Core™ i7 Processor 840QM (1.86 Ghz, 8MB, 4C) Link to comment

You can overclock I7's to over 4GHz, maybe even 5; overclicking to around 2.5GHz will hardly increase the temperature. Anyway, if you have a plastic laptop unlucky. Link to comment

Also, if you are going to overclok your CPU, make sure you understand everything from this help guide; http://www.maximumpc.com/article/features/ultimate_core_i7_overclocking_guide_we_push_nehalem_its_limits If not, don't do it, overcloking your CPU will void your warranty and can give overheating factors if done incorrectly. But, if done correctly it can be a good thing! Somehow my friend managed to reduce the temperature after overclocking... (2.5GHz to 3.2GHz!) Link to comment
