However, the Galaxy card is MUCH MUCH MUCH cheaper after rebate, if i were to get this, and the MSI's Rebate will expire before it even arrives. So I don't think rebates will play much part in this. But the card itself sits at $190 (the MSI), and the Galaxy at $145. Huge price gap not too mention my resolution isn't too high so I don't need much vram. Clockings I'm on the fence about. I've seen people clock the MSI uberhigh, and I think if I redo my wiring i could get all my fans to work, right now I'm using a 8800GT and that's a much hotter card than the GTX 460's could ever be. So I dunno, the Galaxy I could get away with overclocking as well, may be able to even hit what MSI uses but not past that, no way. So I dunno, the price gap is definitely putting me on the fence, and even the Galaxy would probably double up my FPS. What do you all think? Link to comment

As far as price goes the difference is understandable. If you have the money Id go with the most known brand.. MSI the MSI does have better specs to.. so gl with your choice Link to comment

Hottest it runs is like you said 55. I oc'd mine to 875/1750/4200 and it totally worth it - its silent as well. I've never heard of the galaxy card. Edited January 23, 2011 by Zealot Link to comment
PotshotPolka Posted January 24, 2011 Content Count: 6084 Joined: 03/31/08 Status: Offline Share Posted January 24, 2011 The MSI. The shitty default center heatsinks get up to 70C and sound like blowdryers. Link to comment
jazzy Posted January 29, 2011 Content Count: 2187 Joined: 06/28/09 Status: Offline Share Posted January 29, 2011 Actually I ended up getting the Galaxy card. I'm able to run BC2 on high (even with 32x aa ), and GTA IV will run high, but won't hit the top without hitting 30-40 fps. GPU temps aren't too bad, definitely not as much as the 8800gt. Idling right now is 31c with fan at 25%, in game it runs at 40-50's when im stressing it, with fan on obviously. Unluckily Potshot was right about the fan, loud. I've started getting used to it but without the headphones you can notice it above my other 3 fans. As far as it goes, for $105 + Mafia 2 CD-Key i'll attempt at selling, I think it was a good purchase, it won't be that great in the future, but it was more than a step up from my shitty 8800gt. Shit that card used to idle at 60c. Oh, and before I forget, the best I could OC was 850/1600/2000 with stability, googled and nobody gets further than that it looks like. Also note I did take your guys opinion into account, I actually kind of wanted to get the Hawk card but just can't be arsed spending $60 more, as little as that seems in the difference in performance I could have probably gotten. Dirk Posted February 5, 2011 Content Count: 2167 Joined: 07/14/10 Status: Offline Share Posted February 5, 2011 go for the cheaper card providing it has all the same features. Then get an after-market heat sink. Link to comment

A friend of mine compared these almost identically and found the Galaxy pulled 2 points lower in Windows Experience Index. MSI is also a more notable and reliable brand. The Galaxy has 2 advantages: a removable fan, and the price. But if I'm mistaken, the MSI is near the same price? MSI! Link to comment

EVGA even let you put aftermarket coolers on yourself and still dont void the warranty. (i know you can still refit the old one but thats effort) Link to comment
