If you liked Dead Space 1 you might like Dead Space 2 or if you're into shooters like Horror Resident Evil. If you're more of an open world RPG guy you might not like Dead Space 2. It's extremely linear if you ask me. One straight path trying to find the people calling for you lol.

It does sort of have the elements of an RPG, such as credits, buying/selling/storing equipment and if you consider buying new suits as leveling up... Although I have to agree it's incredibly linear but regardless, it's fun if you're into action, horror and things jumping out of nowhere making loud noises.

If you liked DS1, you'll love DS2 in my opinion. The thing is both are very short games, although the multiplayer in DS2 kinda lengthens it. I have some vids of the multiplayer if your interested in my sig and HV also has a "let's play".

I like horror games, but I can't say I enjoyed DS1 so I refuse to even try DS2. I simply didn't like the controls of the game, I found myself getting dizzy more often than scared. Though from what I heard, if you enjoyed DS1, you'll most likely enjoy DS2.
