Hey guys, i have a TV in my room, but no DVD player, so right now i use my laptop as a DVD player but then i can't use my laptop while watching a movie. So i was wondering if theres any way i can make the laptop and the TV as separated screens using a VGA cable.

my laptop is Dell XPS with Windows 7

thanks

does you tv have a vga port on it?

if not you can do a bit of DIY

http://www.idiots.org.uk/vga_rgb_scart/

or

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Hama-SCART-To-VGA-cable/dp/B0002W69MY

okay broski, right click on your desktop when you have your tv plugged into your laptop. Select the screen resolution option, this will open a new window which will give you options on how to configure the multiple displays, change it to extended. Now you can use both laptop and watch movies.
