oh god, SA selection will still be bullshit.

Now admin is just about being liked by people, it has absolutaly nothing about how you are in-game.

if BD has the last say, it can still be affected by favortism. SA should barely be chosen on how they are of handling troublemakers in-game, and nothing else. This only goes for SA though.

 

That's why I kinda liked the recruitment thing, no matter how shitty a reputation a player has (if he is not liked, like me) he can still obtain admin cause he knows the rules and knows when to ban/kick etc.

A 'veteran' member is one who has served SG and helped it grow to where it is today. This is a prestigious group of members that truly represent SG.

 

 

So, postcount whores and inactive pilot members are not part of the group.

If SAs get voted for by members, I would prefer it to be heavily moderated, and possibly preferably private except to higher ranks (voting, and reasoning), to prevent disruption, and people reasoning their votes by saying "i agree because what others have said"

 

Yes, it'll be private, and no one would be allowed to post except BDs and Top Tier members. Only members with >100 posts can vote, so that there is no sock voting as well.

 

Do Veteran Members get anything special? Or just the Usergroup?

 

And what will prevent the group from becoming another Community Advisor Group? The CA group started out small with just a handful of our most veteran members, but it very quickly exploded into the large group it is today with some CAs getting the rank after only a few weeks here at SG.

 

 

I would also like to point out that SteamGamers is now a Plutarchy. i.e the combination of a Plutocracy and an Oligarchy.

 

Veteran members get more permissions and recognition. But most of them might not be as active, and thus we will not give them any task at all.

 

We'll listen to their advices, since they have earned the right to be heard.

I was thinking more along the line of people just not voting if they have no opinion, or simply ignoring those votes in the poll. Having them there just sort of for reference.

I agree popularity contests aren't a good thing, but let's be real here.

 

If nobody likes you, should you get admin? No. Because there's probably a reason nobody likes you (either you're a troll, you are incredibly stupid, you are annoying). All are traits we DON'T want in admins.

 

If you are popular, should you get admin? Not necessarily, but in most cases yes. There are certain people that are liked, and that just would not make good admins. These are exceptions, but why are you friends with most people? Not because they are trolls, not because they are incredibly stupid, and not because they are annoying. You're friends because they have traits that make them a good person.

 

SA isn't rocket science. Qualifications don't really come into play. It's their personality, because everyone can learn the commands for SA. It's whether we think they are smart enough to use their powers wisely etc etc.
