I have Wine and shit installed so if you need troubleshooting with that just ask. however: if you ever have linux questions ask me. ive been fiddling around with it for like a year or two. this guy will know much more. jazzy Posted March 7, 2011 Content Count: 2187 Joined: 06/28/09 Status: Offline Share Posted March 7, 2011 I'd also point out that if it's going to be trouble, just use windows unless you have a restrictive reason for using linux. the hype isn't that great, i only use linux to boot usb onto my school laptop that restricts me from running my own apps (im learning coding in c++ and need a good compiler, linux can supply me one, restricted windows can't). ubuntu isn't worth the hassle. ESPECIALLY not wine, it's a shitstorm of troubleshooting and will require hours to get working correctly. Link to comment
Coolio G Posted March 7, 2011 Content Count: 12 Joined: 03/07/11 Status: Offline Share Posted March 7, 2011 I actually use Ubuntu 10.10 as my primary Operating System and I do play all of my Steam games on it using the PlayOnLinux project and WINE. While you do need to do a bit of console hax to get it working like you want it to, it's a top at just random web browsing and such. B0red provided a good steam client for Ubuntu, no doubt but, if you also want to run your games, I would suggest looking up the PlayOnLinux project. Link to comment
