I use windows for gaming at home but ubuntu everywhere else (laptop at school etc). If you really want to learn just install cygwin and mintty on your PC and start learning bash.

yeah I would run a Ubuntu install but right now its only on a 9.5 GB 10k Cheetah scsi hard drive and Im afraid its gona burn down my house. (already melted an ide belt and burnt my hand)

I use Ubuntu 10.10 on a fdrive with persistency. I have Wine and shit installed so if you need troubleshooting with that just ask.

I personally use linux for getting all my real work done and run windows on my desktop simply because I'm too lazy to get wine configured correctly, what can I say I'm a lazy bastard.

 

Mint is better than Ubuntu.

I think the problem you will bumb into at first, is that you don't just sit and press on "Next" buttons when you install programs on Linux. (Unless it's in the program list)
