I don't know if it really deserved a suspension. As a hockey player I've come pretty close to hitting the boards like that a few times. It's just really unlucky. It probably should have been called interference. I don't think Chara was looking to do that though. Link to comment
Barber Posted March 10, 2011 Content Count: 1058 Joined: 02/23/10 Status: Offline Share Posted March 10, 2011 Gary Bettman is so sucked up into his goal of making the NHL more popular in the US, that he is closing his eyes on everything else, he claimed that most of the concussions this season were accidents. Where the fuck has he been in the last 5 years? Booth, Moore, Savard x2, Crosby. Even Air Canada said that they'd stop sponsoring the league if they dont act agaisnt illegal blows to the head, and Bettman didnt give a fuck and he said theyd find another official transporter. Honestly, i think they should suspend the aggressors as long as the injury of the victim. Now tell me it was fucking unintentional. I can't believe they did not suspend him, it was a direct assault 4 seconds after Pacioretty touched the puck ...and if you are a hockey player, you ALWAYS know your location on the ice... I sincerely hope that Karma makes his way to Chara and gets him what he deserves.... Link to comment

But as i aged i discovered i am more a hockey fan, than a Habs fan. Half of the people down here do not like hockey, but they love the Habs. If the habs is playing agaisnt lets say, Florida, while the caps are playing against philly, id watch Washington/Philly without any hesitation. Yes i am from MTL and if they are doing well in the playoffs id be happy. But I dont really care about the canadians, i watch hockey for the show, not the cities. Link to comment

The guy got punished during the game for an unintentional play that resulted in a serious injury. Nothing else should be done about the incident, so they need to get over it. Look at the video, you can hear a clear, loud BANG when he hits the glass and Chara did not even look behind him. If it was unintentional wouldnt he have "WTF?" when he heard the noise? He knew what he was doing and he held anger against Pacioretty. The Bruins always knock on everything that moves when they start losing and they have to understand that this is not something you can do. Link to comment

He knew what he was doing and he held anger against Pacioretty. The Bruins always knock on everything that moves when they start losing and they have to understand that this is not something you can do. I'm sorry, I didn't know you had NHL experience on the ice in an ice rink full of people probably screaming their heads off as well as other players skating around, making noise as well. Please enlighten me to the exact level of sound made by that "BANG" and the required level of sound necessary for a player to pay attention to it under those circumstances. Oh, you don't know? Assumptions don't equate to the facts. It isn't necessary for a "wtf" moment when you are focusing on something else. Notice how he wasn't raging against the other player who wanted to have a word with him. Also, when you intend on hitting someone into something forcibly, you tend to look at the object as you throw the person into it. When you perform an action with intent or malice, you want to see what happens to the person during/right after the action. He didn't do any of these things. So, for a guy who was trying to "kill" someone, as some enraged fans would like us to believe, and who might have had some malice against the person, he didn't look too satisfied with what he did. Maybe he is such a great actor; maybe he takes lessons on his off days. All I know is there is not enough from the footage involving the hit or his reaction to indicate he intended on nailing the guy in the head with the edge of the wall. 1 Link to comment
