Okay yeah it's up to you, if you wanna drop the money on buying new parts you would definitely need a new cpu, ram, and a motherboard.

a small jump would be the i3-2100, that's a dual core sandybridge cpu, it's an alright cpu. but the i5-2500k is, like i said, the best budget cpu. the motherboard you'd need would probably be around $70ish and the i5-2500k is about $219. the i3-2100 is $124.

the ram you'd have to rebuy cause it'll be DDR3 most likely, unless you buy a DDR2 compatible mobo (useless considering DDR3 rapes the fuck out of DDR2) 4GB of DDR3 ram is about $80. 2GB is about $40, etc.

this is really up to you, but it'd be around $350 (my original estimate) for this pack. and a little more for shipping and you'll need thermal paste. in the longrun you'd benefit a lot from a i5-2500k (overclocking this baby would allow you to handle games for a good while). so it's really up to you. a cpu for the lga775 socket would be like $200~ for a decent one and that would probably be as 3/4 as efficient as an i3-2100.

Newegg.com - ASUS P8H61-M LE/CSM (REV 3.0) LGA 1155 Intel H61 Micro ATX Intel Motherboard

Mobo

Newegg.com - Computer Parts, PC Components, Laptop Computers, LED LCD TV, Digital Cameras and more!

CPU Ram combo

Do these all seem good, they are ll compatable i beleive but with this would i have to upgrade psu? have 500W if im not mistaken.

Total: just over 400

Also willing to lower ram to 6g but that requires a mobo change and new combo :/.

It would work .. but not so good mobo

and the wattage might not be as much of a problem as to how old and how well it performs...

The problem is that the motherboard on the combo deal has 6GB/s SATA slots but not 3gb/s and i dont think you have the 6gb/s wd caviar black (because you current mobo wouldn't support it), the 2nd motherboard in your post seems to be fine, but can you check what your hdd just to make sure that it's SATA 1.5Gb/s or 3Gb/s? because you'll need to make sure it's not 1.5Gb/s as none of the motherboards you've posted have SATA 1.5Gb/s compatbility.

I dunno, but it's possible too that Sata 3Gb/s would work in a 6Gb/s slot but I'm not even 10% sure on that and I wouldn't even try it, I've tried googling that shit before and never got a straight answer so I doubt it.

Newegg.com - Open Box: MSI P67A-GD55 (B3) LGA 1155 Intel P67 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard

So this mobo you posted is also Open box, but it's got 2 PCI-E slots so you could SLI a second GTX 460 down the line if you wanted to, but if you wanna put money on an open box that's fine, but you only get a 30-day refund on those or you can send it back to MSI for a RMA (i don't know how long theirs last but it's best to assume it's a 1yr replacement warranty)

CPU is great, you're fine on that side.

Ram is a no-go, however. it's just that you're buying triple channel ram, but your motherboard only supports dual channel. this is okay, you can still run it in something called "flex memory mode," but that means you won't get 3x the memory bandwidth as you would with triple channel, and you wouldn't get dual channel because you'd have that third stick. like i said, this is fine, but it's could be possible to get a better deal

Newegg.com - G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Desktop Memory Model F3-10666CL9D-8GBRL it's dual channel 8gb, and the third best rated ddr3 ram on newegg, and g.skill isn't usually defective from what i heard. also more gb than what you wanted for the same price ;) though corsair does make some good ram as well. the clockrate is a tad bit slower, but dual channeling the ram would definitely make up for that.

Thank you for being so helpful in this thread and i changed Ram :) glad you looked and also im fine with mobo being open box considering one i have has lasted ~4 years with no problems except it not being better haha, only thing about all 3 is price ~$422 with tax/ship :( wish it was free heh.
