This is not a Fight-of-the-better-brand-thread, this is just an information thread.

I wanted to know, which phone that costs a maximum of 300$ and that can do most of what a jailbroken Iphone can do and has the same (or better) hardware.

Such as, getting all the apps from a certain installer, customization, great touch screen functionality, (better?) GPS system, etc

The main reason why I'm searching for an alternative is because my Iphone's GPS is gone thanks to Apple. The Iphone came from US (because a friend of mine wanted to sell it for 150$ a year ago) and I had to unlock it to be able to use Belgian network providers. It all worked great for months in OS 3.1.2 until apple suddenly installed 4.1 on it without notifying me. So I was stuck with a brick for weeks, and my only option was to upgrade it to baseband 6.15 (the Ipad baseband) and it had a great chance of breaking my GPS funtion, which it did. Now after half a year I need my GPS function and there is still no fix, so I'm just going to try and get a different phone which doesn't have all this crappy issues (GPS isn't the only broken thing on an Iphone).

So, is there such phone that costs less than 300$? (I can't afford more.)

Droid X seems to cost $439.99 :/

Can you get something through your service provider or do you need to buy something unlocked? You're going to have a hard time finding something for

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00332YPHQ

The Nexus One is an older model though its still a pretty good phone (though it doesn't compare to the newest phones out there, obviously).

I contacted every provider in Belgium and ask them for an unlock code or a hardware fix (sending to the factory and removing a certain lock hardware) and neither of them they could do. I also made my US friend call AT&T and they denied that they had such unlock codes (even tho I read articles about it). So since I couldn't do it that way, I had no other choice than to update to the Ipad baseband. So yeah...

You can't get an Android phone through your provider?

You mean with a contract? Which you pay out with a certain amount each month? I probably can, but it would still cost the full amount after those 2 years of monthly payments
