Hello, i am going to or atleast help a freind make a desktop PC his budget is $600 and i am finding it pretty hard to make haha, he wants it to be good for gaming and get good fps/be at high settings in games. While i work on my own for him im open to suggestions of what to use/make and there is plenty of time.

Right now im looking at:

Newegg.com - Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64-bit - Operating Systems Win7 $100

Newegg.com - EVGA 01G-P3-1452-TR GeForce GTS 450 (Fermi) Superclocked 1GB 128-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card GTS450 $110

Newegg.com - Computer Parts, PC Components, Laptop Computers, LED LCD TV, Digital Cameras and more! Combo for the rest $340

My concern is the case has a built in PSU with only 430w and im not sure if i can run everything there with only that much.

Other than that i think i have everything.

I'm not defending piracy here, but you can torrent Windows instead of spending one sixth of his total budget.

You can invest that money in better hardware.

I'm sure everybody would do the same. IF you know a bit about computers and their market value.

if your friend wants a good PC for that budget, you gotta go with AMD:

Newegg.com - Antec Three Hundred Illusion Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Newegg.com - GIGABYTE GA-870A-UD3 AM3 AMD 870 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard

Newegg.com - SAPPHIRE 100315L Radeon HD 6850 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card with Eyefinity

Newegg.com - OCZ ModXStream Pro 700W Modular High Performance Power Supply compatible with Intel Sandybridge Core i3 i5 i7 and AMD Phenom

Newegg.com - G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10600) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model F3-10600CL8D-4GBHK

Newegg.com - AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition Deneb 3.2GHz 4 x 512KB L2 Cache 6MB L3 Cache Socket AM3 125W Quad-Core Processor HDZ955FBGMBOX

Newegg.com - Sony Optiarc CD/DVD Burner 24X DVD+R 8X DVD+RW 12X DVD+R DL 24X DVD-R 6X DVD-RW 16X DVD-ROM 48X CD-R 32X CD-RW 48X CD-ROM Black SATA Model AD-7260S-0B - CD / DVD Burners

Newegg.com - Western Digital Caviar Green WD10000CSRTL 1TB 5400 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Hard Drive

this is kinda a minimum if he wants to play recent games.

total price around $670

Not bad but Id do a 465 like this :Newegg.com - EVGA 01G-P3-1467-AR GeForce GTX 465 (Fermi) Superclocked 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card

dont really matter either way

But I especially WOULDNT do the OCZ PSU.. Get a non modular Corsair 650 to get something really reliable.

And I would def do a 640GB Caviar black over the HDD slow as hell in comparison

The CaviarBlack is one of the fastest/best drive in the price/performance range for about the same price!

Well i do not know how to pirate Win7 so thats probably a no go haha, but it does suck how its 1/6 of his budget.

Replace Phenom II X4 with i3-2100 and the AMD mobo with a intel socket 1155 compatible mobo and use that.

also don't use Caviar Green get a Caviar Blue or Black. Other than that it's good.

is there anything your friend can re-use? like a dvdrom drive or a hard drive? that would reduce the price a lot.

$592 after rebates on card and combo deal (shipping not included cause im lazy)

that combo deal is hot as fuck too, that's way cheap. also you can get windows way cheaper somewhere just look around (or just torrent it ffs)

also the i3-2100 is bad not really the best sandy bridge for that price.

for that budget there isn't really a lot you can get that can play good games.

with that tower/psu its 430w and card says Required 450W power supply, then theres the other things in there so i dont think it can support that. But everything else looks great and im assuming i can take that one out without a problem and replace it with like a 550-600w psu.
