kabLe Posted July 11, 2011 Content Count: 2206 Joined: 08/30/09 Status: Offline Share Posted July 11, 2011 I'm gonna build my first ever rig I just don't know what to get and what works together :3 I need help getting a new rig together. My budget is pretty low though 500-800$. Preferably AMD Six-Core cpu and one of the newer NVIDIA GTX 5 series video cards. The motherboard should be able to support the AMD six core and a psu that can support the video card and everything else. Since my budget is low I'm gonna get a top notch video card and cpu and mobo. But the HDD should be 100-200 GB as I don't use a lot of space. I know what I want I just don't know what the hardware would be called etc. Memory isn't a must but would like to have DDR3 and 3-4 GB of it. I already got the tower so that's out of the way. Appreciate all the help that will be given to me and thanks a lot guise :3 Just for reference my tower is the HAF series 922 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119197&cm_re=HAF_922-_-11-119-197-_-Product Link to comment

My current PSU is relatively new and its 680 watt which is better then the one that is listed in there. So thats a good 60$ I can save. I have a corprate copy of Windows 7 so thats 100$ right off the list there. Thanks a lot for the help. One question though, the CPU/Mobo is a package right? That's why its 300$ lol? Link to comment

Well if you can cut some costs then the GPU can defiantly be upgraded to a better GTX 5 series theres about ~150 to spend since you have win7 and a psu or you can leave it as is and price will be lower. Just tell me if you want me to look for upgrades to that list without psu/win7. Also you need some thermal paste for cpu. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835100014&cm_re=thermal_compound-_-35-100-014-_-Product Total now: $614 without psu/win7. Also im in NJ so theres state tax too, for you price may be slightly lower. And what are you going to be using this computer for? that might help. Link to comment

I mean like anything that could come out in 2-3 years I'd be able to run just fine without upgrading anything. Chaoz, a few questions. Whats bad about the GTX 550 TI that seperates it from the GTX 560? Idk what u mean by "but seeing as the Llano CPU's (socket FM1) are out you should get that 1 as it's a bit like the Sandy Bridge but from AMD." Is the new FM1 socket better then the six core? If I could get a cheap Quad-Core that has at least 3.5 ghz I'd be happy to cut the cost there as well seeing as almost nothing iscalling for a full out quad core yet. EDIT: With this big video card and obviously a lot of bigger sized hardware and a lot of heat should I got for a full sized tower rather then a mid sized? Edited July 12, 2011 by Fuze Link to comment
Silva Posted July 12, 2011 Content Count: 250 Joined: 04/01/11 Status: Offline Share Posted July 12, 2011 Your tower is big enough full size is only a few inches taller. And if you want to run future games better you cant really tell what the specs are going to be needed like ARMA 3 is going to need a ridiculously good pc to run it well you probably want more RAM too. Also with the GTX 550 TI i chose that one becuase it was cheaper and wanted to stay in your budget however better cards have more processing streams and cores ect, that make them better so its your choice. So to replace that card, these could be ups: Newegg.com - EVGA SuperClocked 01G-P3-1463-KR GeForce GTX 560 (Fermi) 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121425 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130620 Link to comment
kabLe Posted July 12, 2011 Content Count: 2206 Joined: 08/30/09 Status: Offline Share Posted July 12, 2011 (edited) I've thought about it and what I would really like is the GTX 570 and an AMD Six Core processor and a mobo that can hold the 8 gb of memory. That is all I am caring about at the moment. Everything else could be bought later but I need the MOBO/CPU/Video Card to be able to turn on and run the computer. And if necessary the lesser model of GTX 560 TI. Does anybody know what difference between the performance of the two? Edited July 12, 2011 by Fuze Link to comment

You need a hard drive and RAM to turn on and run a computer. Link to comment
