well if it doesn't have to be anything expensive, this is a good choice, i have this 1 aswell and it's really good it can support 7.1 Surround has loads of different options and such.

also has to be compatable with win7 64bit

 

im really only going to be using headphones and itll just be music and gaming,

 

i was looking at the audigy se but i saw a few people saying that it wasnt working with win7/64bit systems can someone confirm/deny this rumour

 

 

also i heard that amplified sound cards provide a better sound anyone know anything about this??

i'm not sure about 64-bit Win 7 but 32-bit works perfect, the Windows Update even finds the driver for you, which should work on 64-bit OS's.

 

although i'm not sure.

 

an amplified soundcard does give a better sound quality but it is not needed if you're only going to use the soundcard with your headphones.
