Catwalk or not.

Alright, yesterday in PB we were playing VIPinthemix and the CTs told us to go outside. SO we were outside minding our business when suddenly I was standing on that ledge outside. I think most people would know what I am talking about but I am talking about the little ledge that is outside but instead of taking the door you climb the ladder to get there. This ledge really carries no advantage the to Ts at all. Well I was outside on that ledge on the railing of it and then a CT killed me. When I asked him why I was killed (for some reason he thought I was raging when I was just curious as to why) he claimed that it was a CT area because it is a catwalk. I disagreed claiming it isn't because it is a ledge outside. I compared it to the second floor of soccer saying that is like a ledge as well and is not a CT area. This ledge is easily accessible, no vents or teleporters are needed to get there and it doesn't lead to armory or any other important areas. It is just a ledge with a soda machine on it.

 

So basically I am just asking what is the ruling on this? Is this a catwalk or just a ledge? To me it is just a ledge/balcony that is outside that a CT can use to overlook outside but I don't think it is a catwalk and it was the first time I have ever heard someone claim it to be a catwalk.

Personally I'd say it is a catwalk - it allows for the CT to overlook the T's without any direct threat because the T would have to climb up to get to it. And usually outside means outside... (going to the "balcony" is just asking to get shot; allowing a T to yet again complain). Just my input; interested in hearing what others think as well.

This ledge hardly counts as a catwalk and it would be pretty stupid for someone to shoot on sight for standing on it. At the very least they could ask for the prisoner to get down or get off of the ledge before shooting and at most give a warning shot. Sounds to me like the guy who killed you was just some trigger-happy CT who doesn't know how to play.

OK the rule ius ment for only one MAP. Its the MAp were the cat walk goes RIGHT into armory. Now on VIP that cat walk should not be auto kill becuase it does not go right into armory.

I understand what you are saying but to be honest the balcony really is outside. 99% of the time the CTs don't even go up on that ledge because when they send them outside on this map they all camp with awps in the pool. I realize by definition this is a "catwalk" but I don't think this should be autokill and I think this is more of a balcony if anything. If this is considered a catwalk then so is the second floor of all soccer fields and thus those should be autokill as well. That is really my question here is how can this be considered an autokill catwalk while those in soccer are not?

When the auto-kill cat walk rule was established... it was mainly issued for the map, razor. However, more then just that map has a cat walk.

 

Even though the rules are not stated very clearly on what is a catwalk... I think common sense thinking (then again this is PB players we are talking about) would state that the only kill on sight cat walk would be something that leads to guns or a teleporter. Something that a T can gain an advantage by.

 

But thats just me.
