Don't bother, like I told Elfbarf, there's really no reason to go this cheap. If you can get up to some extra dosh for like $650~ line, then you're set. I mean, with $500 you can't reach an i5-2300 without a decent gpu, and without a i5 1155 socket (or the AMD equivalent), there's no reason to build. GPU wise the line is 560Ti to a 570, no reason to go higher or lower. I mean, if this is entry, I'll think about compiling something, but honestly there's not a lot out there right now that can fit your budget and be beneficial to the cost. In the end if you build something for $500 you're going to just have to upgrade in 2 years. The i3's and FX4k's cant keep up. If it's a need to? I'll look up something, but I just want to inform you before I dedicate the time to acutally looking at something. I'd go with amd's fx-4100 and a 550Ti or 560Ti for your main shit, or amd's somehting for a gpu, not too sure what's cheap on their end. Link to comment

For that price you'll be better putting together a nice friendly desktop. Lets just say my current build; 8GB DDR3 1.5TB HDD HD6950 AMD FX 1860 (8core @ 3.6GHz) 800W PSU It'll cost me around £700 to build, which is around $1.1k. Link to comment
