I would recommend learning c++ first. I had no prior knowledge of programming and I started on this. Yes it can be a bitch at times, but once you know c++ learning other languages is a lot easier. From only six months knowledge of C++ I have gone over to Java, JavaScript and PHP. Link to comment

Should I learn java to get more into server side development and getting a bit into game development? Link to comment

I can understand this, but c++ was the first programming language I learned. I've always preferred jumping into the deep end though, that is just me. Link to comment

As he doesn't need to dive into any language in particular right now, it is best he chooses one that will most benefit his studies, e.g. Python, Java, or C#. That way, when university comes, he will know these already and can therefore go for more advanced languages without having to worry about his studies. Sent from Samsung mobile. Link to comment
