Mr.Trololo Posted March 12, 2013 Content Count: 331 Joined: 01/08/13 Status: Offline Share Posted March 12, 2013 I know this has probably been asked a hundred times over, but what would be a good headset to get around $100, maybe a bit more? I'm looking at turtle beach right now, but i'm looking for something else because I hear they tend to die pretty quickly. Link to comment
Kurohime Posted March 12, 2013 Content Count: 954 Joined: 05/29/12 Status: Offline Share Posted March 12, 2013 just as a personal quirk: NEVER BUY WIRELESS HEADSETS they get a bit of lag compared to hard wired headsets, and they're based off of batteries. so if they are rechargable, they won't last as long as standard wired headsets, but if they're battery based, you have to constantly replace the batteries otherwise, razer and logitech both make good headsets, the one i have is the G35 which works really well ^-^ EDIT: floffypus said: Steelseries siberea V2. Very comfortable and good sound quality. I don't think they dies fast unless you run over the wire with your chair, that's what killed mine.. oh, and this reminds me, if at all possible, get a headset with a braided cable, they take much more beating than unprotected headsets Link to comment

WriteX Posted March 12, 2013 Content Count: 535 Joined: 03/29/11 Status: Offline Share Posted March 12, 2013 Well, I can say for sure that the Logitech G35 is worth it if you're up for gaming. (Seeing as I also have this headset.) It might be a little bit more expensive than what you have in mind, though. (Also, it's really easy to get a new one if you break it. All you have to do is contact Logitech support. It doesn't matter where you bought it. they won't send you a new one if you mention that you bought it in a electronics store, though.. Tell 'em that you got it for you birthday around 1 year ago, and that you don't know where it was purchased, etc. They'll ask for a picture of a PID that is located on the inner side of the left side of the headset + a picture showing its condition, how broken it is and all that stuff. Point is, they'll send you a new one as long as it doesn't look like it was overrun by a truck. The warranty had expired on mine and I provided them with the info above, and I got a new one. Told a couple of friends to do the exact same thing and they got new ones as well. This might be considered scamming, but no one really cares. Not even Logitech. The reason this is so easy to do, is that there is this 1 plastic-piece on the G35 that easily breaks if you happen to drop the headset on the floor or something. Everyone I know who'se managed to break their G35 headset happened to break it at that exact spot, including myself. It's a quality failure by Logitech themselves and they're aware of it. It's probably the only bad thing about this headset, though. That and the driver errors which now seems to have been fixed.) If you don't feel like spending that much money, I'd say you should go for the Steelseries Siberia V2. It's a headset of great quality and sound, though I don't really like it. I had the Siberia V1 and the mic was totally shit, and the minijack-cable stopped working properly after a year. I've also had the CM Storm Sirus, but that's out of question seeing as its sound quality is far worse than both G35 and Siberia. If I have to pick a headset based on sound-quality alone, it'd be Siberia V2. The way that headset is made makes the audio just.. awesome. If I have to pick a headset based on product quality and gaming experience, I'd pick the G35. It has a nice driver software that allows you to adjust a lot of things. Bass, treble, volume/microphone, the pitch of your voice, etc. It also has 6 pre-installed voice morphing options, and you can purchase MorphVOX from Screaming Bee and you'll have 100+ voices that surely is compatible with your G35 headset. The G35 headset is also great for CS:S. You can surely become a soundwhore with this headset. Link to comment

Any brands you don't like? Certain Cables? But If its just for average pc gaming and talking and you don't care enough, Yea the Tbs will work fine. And they are cheaper. Yup Link to comment
