I came into this thinking that a gaming headset would offer something better than what I got now, but everything I'm seeing is that gaming headsets tend to just suck. I already have a pair of Sennheiser HD518s that have been absolutely glorious, and I just ordered a modmic to just put onto it. I also got a siberia USB sound card, might as well give it a shot. Amazon is usually nice about its return policy Thanks all around, guys. Link to comment

Yes, of course the audio-quality on a gaming headset might be worse than a headset which was made purely for audio-quality and listening to music, but saying that every gaming headset is absolute shit is somewhat over the top. I don't know how good those Sennheis-whatever they're called are at picking up footsteps from far away, bullets hitting concrete or other elements and stuff like that, but I haven't tried any other headset that is better at doing exactly this than the Logitech G35. I'm not saying that it is better than those Sennheiser headphones, I am simply pointing out that your accusation of every gaming headset "tend to just suck" is false. It all depends on what you are going to use it for, and from what point you are looking at the headset from. Any other regular headset might as well be able to pick up those sounds, but it won't be able to tell you exactly where they are coming from. Logitech G35's surround-sound technology does that for you. I'll also point out that the G35's bass is worse than the Sennheiser headset. You might even have to use Windows' bass-management option to enhance the bass quality seeing as it doesn't work properly, if you're using Logitech Gaming Software 8.0, that is. Despite all this, I would still pick G35 over Sennheiser, seeing as I am more of a gamer than I am a music enthusiast. You can't say that every gaming headset sucks if you are talking out of a narrow-minded perspective. End of story. Music? Go for something else than a gaming headset. Gaming? Consider something else than a headset that will blow your ears off every time you fire a sniper. In my opinion, go for the G35. Link to comment

Not really, Sennheisers are known for extremely clear audio reproduction. Some headphones are designed to make music sound better but those Senneheisers have been engineered for complete neutrality. They will reproduce every detail and have amazingly full soundstages. I havent used that particular model, but I can vouch for the HD565 conveying the location of every instrument in an orchestra clear as a bell and you can bet it does a good job tracking footsteps. The only place where you really loose out is that there is no built in volume control and there is no microphone. Audiophiles place great emphasis on being able to pick apart the instuments and the finest details of a musical piece and thats exactly what those headphones are engineered to do. It should also be noted that sennheiser also sells high end gaming headsets. Link to comment

I am really sorry if I offended you, I am not trying to sound "narrow minded", I am very passionate for music and that tends to be the medium I judge headphones on. I only meant that the quality of sound in terms of clarity with music tends to be rather lackluster with music, like you mentioned. I'm sorry, I'm in a bad mood and not exactly the most emotionally stable person, but that tends to just tends to be a quality you learn from getting to know me. Link to comment

Goku Posted March 16, 2013 Content Count: 2589 Joined: 02/05/12 Status: Offline Share Posted March 16, 2013 I bought these about a month or so ago They're turtle beach z6a cost $100 Turtle Beach, Inc. - EAR FORCE Z6A They work perfectly for me. Mic works just fine, surround sound quality is good, no sign of breaking or anything and I've used them quite a bit in this one month time span. As for replacing them, only thing I've heard is that it costs $50 for the headset itself, and $50 for the channel adapter/amplifier thingy which allows you to adjust the front, rear, center and subwoofer. Installion is easy, god knows how many times I've moved the headset between my two computers. Has an adapter so you can still have your speakers hooked up and use the headset. Isn't that heavy either. I've been watching a lot of netflix this past week so I've had it on the majority of the day. Though I'm not sure if it is my not changing some setting but when I listen to itunes or a video on the internet it only feeds the bass and the front speakers. Most computers come with 5.1 sound cards if not better so yes you should be able to use it. Essentially, just don't treat it like shit and it should last you awhile. I also don't let the volume blare all the way either Link to comment
