I am using my HP laptop, so it has a soundcard built into the MOBO... So I am clueless as to what it can do/provide (5.1/7.1 Surround sound??)... Can't find anything about it online Any clarification would be great. The headsets I am looking at are: SteelSeries Siberia V2 - Analog SteelSeries Siberia V2 - 7.1 Virtual Surround USB SteelSeries Siberia V2 Frost Blue - USB Logitech G35 - USB What are your thoughts as to which one I should get. Yes, I am getting a headset, yes I know I will always be sacrificing audio when getting a gaming headset (So maybe it won't matter either way) Link to comment

The USB headsets essentialy add another soundcard to your PC and that can be annoying. For instance, you cant have a program outputing to your speakers and the headphones without switching audiodevices in the software. On top of that you add a level of complication to them that makes them noticeably less reliable. Lastly, when you use a USB headset you loose the ability to plug it into anything other than a compatible computer so there goes flexibility. Your soundcard is almost certaintly better than the built in one and you cant use an external amplifier when you use USB so I would say stay away unless you have no other choice. Link to comment

Amazon.com: Sony MDR-V6 Monitor Series Headphones with CCAW Voice Coil: Electronics Of those, I'd got Analog or the Virtual 7.1 one. I've heard bad reviews of the G35. Link to comment
