Ok, I bought Oddworld on Steam for nostalgic reasons and I noticed that when I go to launch it, it will start up and load about 1 second, and then the main audio file will loop and eventually crash and lock my computer.

Anyone know any solutions to fix this? (Already tried reinstalling it and running as an administrator)

Computer specs if it helps

OS: Windows 7 64 Bit

Processor: Intel® Core i5-2410M/ 2.30GHz (Quad Core)

Memory; 4GB of Ram

Graphics card (Fully updated): NVidia GeForce GT540M

Try this one, worked for me. Search on google something called "oddpatch" download it and run it, then run the game. The patch closes itself after a while and freezes the screen, to fix this just jump to desktop and run the patch again.

OddPatch.exe I think this might be the one, can't test it I don't have the game installed.

How old is this game? It may be a compatibility error.

Heh.... This game is uh...

1997 is when it was released on Playstation. But Steam just put it on their market though

If Steam put it up, it shouldn't have compatibility issues I suppose, that would be pretty odd IMO at least.

Did you look on the game's page on Steam to see if it said anything? Or googling to see if other people have the same problem?

"Supported OS: A 100% Windows 2000/XP-compatible computer system (only)"

I'm sure thats the issue...

Which raises the question of why?

If thats the case then I'm not changing the OS on my old Desktop.

If the update didn't work, try lowering your audio quality. Sound - Speakers(Or whatever you're using) - Advanced - Try lowering it to CD Quality
