My current laptop has done its duty for the past five years, but it's falling apart (literally).

So I need a new one.

Budget: under $1000.

I'll be doing some gaming, but as long as shit can run on medium, I'm cool.

MSI GE60 Gaming Laptop - 3rd generation Intel Core i5-3230M 2.6GHz, 8GB DDR3, 750GB HDD, DVDRW, 2GB NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M, 15.6 in. Full HD Display, Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit (GE60 0NC-498US) at TigerDirect.com

This is a really nice laptop and you could run a few games on high setting and maybe max them out.

NOTE: I'm not a computer geek but hope this is what your looking for. ;)

I know im going to get the standard "overpriced crap" response to this post but since they have released the new lineup of laptops the 2012 models are on a significant discount. Alienware M14x Gaming Laptop | Dell I highly recommend this laptop, lightweight, good battery life, plenty of power, and well built.

I second this. I have a MSI and love it. Alienware performance for a much lower price.

I think I'll go for a Lenovo since I have a discount membership. Does anyone have any thoughts on the Y500?

My fucking God. Never go with a Lenovo. I actually at one point had gotten that laptop. The dual graphics of Lenovo is pure crap, they don't switch over to the GeForce. At points, your computer will actually just shut off. After trying and trying to fix it, I sold it and got an MSI. I highly, highly HIGHLY suggest avoiding Lenovo all together and do suggest getting the MSI laptop. The MSI I got after my Lenovo experience is nothing short of amazing.
