Bob Loblaw Posted July 27, 2013 Content Count: 3697 Joined: 01/07/09 Status: Offline Share Posted July 27, 2013 (edited) I have Lenovo Y500. Great laptop HOWEVER: The wireless card is shit. I disabled 802.11n mode in the adapter settings and it seems to have helped, but I still lag sometimes. I sent my laptop in because I thought I had a faulty one, but the second one I received still had the same issues (random HUGE spikes in ping). Aside from that I have no complaints about this laptop really. Good battery life, looks really good, great specs for the cost. I was considering buying a replacement wireless card, (and at some point I still might) but installing it yourself means you aren't covered by warranty if you fuck it up. But disabling 802.11n mode has done enough good for me that I don't really deem it necessary, but it's still not perfect. e: I don't have sli version so I can't comment on that. I have that laptop as well since I got out of boot so around april? I honestly love it but I have to say I have encountered the same issues with the wireless. Unfortunately that's all navy bases work of so my internet experience has not been great. Runs games smooth tho. I love the backlite key board for low light rooms. Hate windows 8. Overall I dont regret it. I will try what bob said tho. maybe just get a dongle down the road. Also has a usb plugg that stays on as long as there is bettery life. Its convenient when your outlets are limited or you only have the usb cable for your phone. Link to comment
