I am going to be building a new computer in the near future. I have the parts list here. Anyone agree or disagree with any of the parts? Any other parts you'd recommend? Thanks for any input!

For 500 bucks your pretty limited. You might want a newer cpu such as the i5 or i7 cpu. The HIS Radeon HD 5450 1GB Video Card is only half size meaning very little power for gaming. Might want to consider the gtx560 ti oc by pny if you can get it or another card in the gtx 500 series that is a full video card.

this is pretty similar to my rig im currently building.

I'd suggest a better mobo and a better optical drive. I'm not a fan of Lite on, tbh.

what kind of motherboard would you recommend?

if you are a near a microcenter, you could get that same processor for 60$ cheaper.

that EVO 212 fan make sure your case is big enough because it sticks out quite a bit, I got a case that was 10" wide and it fit pretty well, but you should be fine with a 8" case.

You can try going for a cheaper card, tbh I got a 650 Ti boost a couple weeks ago and I run BF3 on max settings at around 60ish FPS. If you really want a newer card with better performance the new 700 series nvidia cards are your best bet. the GTX 770 does perform better than the 680 and is 20$ cheaper. The GTX 760, while a little less powerful than the 680, is significantly cheaper.

Not a fan of mini-atx mobos, I could barely fit all my parts on a regular atx mobo, its going to be a nightmare setting up your rig with a mini-atx,

don't know if ASRock is any good but its the same price, only its a regular ATX board

for your RAM, I would recommend getting One 8 GB Stick, so in case you ever want to extend to 32GB (for some reason) you have the option to do so, because the max you're going to get with your RAM is 16GB

I have only built one PC though so you can take my advice for what it's worth

I am not quite sure how much RAM i need. I want to run a game and have chrome open in the background without my computer being super slow. I have 4GB of RAM of the laptop I currently play on. I want to be able to run BF3/BF4 or Skyrim. How much would you recommend?

8 GB is fine, the only reason I suggested the stick is because if you ever wanted more RAM you could just buy another stick. Also if you do ever end up buying more RAM try to get the same exact stick, or a stick that matches the specs of the one your buying. some mobos get kind of iffy when you use a bunch of different types of RAM, also if you get two sticks of RAM, read the manual on your mobo to see where to put the each stick
