I have an older Microsoft headset laying around but it requires 2 ports to use the mic and headphones at the same time, also I prefer to use ear-buds rather than on-the-ear headphones. Do you think a standard laptop microphone is good enough to use in-game or should I invest in something else? perhaps I could buy a USB microphone and use that in conjunction with ear-buds? Just record yourself speaking and see if it sounds terrible. If your aversion to headphones is the discomfort you get after wearing them for several hours then go get a full-sized pair of circumaural headphones, they can be worn for days without problems. Perhaps something like this: Sabrent USB-SBCV USB 2.0 External Surround Sound Adapter - Add Sound to a Desktop or Notebook - Driverless!: Amazon.ca: Electronics Link to comment

I would go spend the money on a nice circumaural headset if I had the money, but this seems like the best option. Link to comment
