eXtr3m3 Posted August 30, 2013 Content Count: 5108 Joined: 06/29/13 Status: Offline Share Posted August 30, 2013 Well, I live in a house hold of 5 people, 4 of which are internet-savvy and use multiple devices. I only use my PC to play CSS or Garry's Mod. Anyways, most of the time I have beautiful internet connection, no lag at all, however, at random times my connection will cut out and my modem will just reset by itself, and instead of saying no internet connection, it will say "Limited Connection". Can anyone explain what I would have to do to fix this once and for all? Link to comment

At first, he just checked a few cables, then the 2nd visit he suggested replacing our old modem with a new one, still didn't work. Link to comment
Veggie Posted August 31, 2013 Content Count: 4123 Joined: 05/20/07 Status: Offline Share Posted August 31, 2013 Could be lot's of reasons. I'd check your modems event list. Type your ip in to your browser and hit enter, that should let you see what is going on. Otherwise depending on how old your modem is such as docsis 2.0 modems are outdated and you need a docsis 3.0 like a arris modem, your isp is probably limiting your connection based on the modem you have. Comcast does this, same with other major isps. Give them a call and ask if you need a docsis 3.0 modem. If you check the config on your modem (click the hardware tab on that same website you checked the event log. Hope that helps you solve the problem. Link to comment

If that's the case, try a new modem. Link to comment
