Thats 500 GB of ultra fast storage for you. Some people will buy large numbers of cheap small SSDs for just such a thing. Just a side note though, make backups often. You cant recover data from a failed SSD and in a stripe you are doubling the risk of failure (however small it is). Also avoid windows 8, its awkward as hell. Other than that it looks fine to me. 1 Link to comment

Intel's stock fans does not cool down your CPU well at all. Pre-filled liquid coolers works a lot better. You should check out the Corsair H-series. (The H60 is one of the most popular ones. I have it, and it works really well, but I'm going to upgrade to a bigger one despite the fact that the H60 perfectly works like it should do.) 2 - As PAN mentioned above, having two SSD drives can be pointless. If you really want a SSD, get one you can have your OS on. For your games, programs, porn, and everything else, get a regular HDD. Or, you could set up that striped raid thingy and get 500 gigs of fast storage... Keep in mind that 500GB doesn't last long if you download a lot of movies and series, though. 3 - That GTX 660 won't last long at all. It is not from the latest GTX series (7xx), and it was not one of the best cards of the 6xx series either. If you want to be prepared for future games, you really should get a powerful GPU like the GTX 780 or the TITAN but those are really, really expensive. I'd go for the GTX 770. I have it, and it can handle BF4 like a charm. 4 - This one is pretty much up to you. I really, really hate W8 though. There is a lot of programs that doesn't fully work with W8, crash or doesn't work at all. After all, W8 was mainly made for tablets and touch-screen computers. 5 - That case is really old, you know. I'd go for something newer and easier to work with. The Cooler Master CM 690 II Advanced being an example. 1 Link to comment

When is 500gb ever enough? He's going to have to end up deleting stuff to make room for other stuff. Would be better to just get a faster, bigger, regular drive. Or he could get a regular drive and divert that money saved to a better GPU. (Also SSD's don't just effect the speed of windows. If you install something such as a game on an SSD, your load times will be way faster than if it were on a regular drive) Also I heard OCZ power supplies suck ass, and thats really the part of your PC you don't want to skim on, but they might've fixed their shit since then so Idk I'd double check on that. 1 Link to comment

You just added $470 to his $1.5k, I would go with what you recommended, but if I raised to 1.5k, another $470 would be hard to get. What I would recommend is that you get that H60 and get a 1T HDD. The 250GB SSD goes for like $200, what you can do is get a 1 or 2T HDD and get the H60. I really don't know about HDD so that why I didn't recommend any but if anything, someone here can help you find a good HDD. Other then that, it's a nice computer and maybe on the future you can get another 660 to boost it up a bit more. If you have the cash, I'll go with what WriteX said. 1 Link to comment

OCZ does suck, don't get it. coolermaster hasn't failed me yet. I'm sure some others could suggest options. Windows 8 also awkward as others have said, stick to win7 64 bit. Also shouldn't waste money on high end i7 or high end video card if you're not going to play high end games with cranked graphics. You said you don't know tech terms, so this is from a site. where are you buying your parts from, and is this prebuilt? Basically should answer : 1. what games do you plan on playing. + do you plan on doing a lot of tasks on computer at once. 2. site, prebuilt?, ect. 3. do you plan on upgrading in the near future? (like 2-4 years) 1 Link to comment
