Mr. Fantasy Posted December 30, 2013 Content Count: 27 Joined: 05/27/11 Status: Offline Share Posted December 30, 2013 (edited) Starbound (:, a bunch of us are playing and I'm sure others are aswell! It's a really popular game currently and it's just in it's infancy. The game is constantly growing and has huge potential on top of an already seemingly endless amount of things to build/explore. I am currently hopping around servers and would love a permanent home, be my home SteamGamers. PS. Please make sure the server doesn't suck balls, cuz constant crashing makes the game very much not enjoyable . EDIT: The game is in and around the top 10 most played games on steam currently, so the playerbase is certainly there 8-). And I saw servers where people had different coloured names and stuff, so we might be able to sell supporter on it and stuff, make some cash money $$$$. I support Eskomo's idea, I already play starbound and I think it's an awesome game. Edited December 30, 2013 by Mr. Fantasy grammer Link to comment
not SOLDIER Posted December 30, 2013 Content Count: 128 Joined: 05/06/09 Status: Offline Share Posted December 30, 2013 It's already been mentioned in this thread, but I think having this many servers for CS:S at this point in the game's life really isn't necessary. Other than minigames, everything else is either half-dead (jailbreak?) or just flat-out dead, like zombie escape. A little while back, no matter how long we'd stay on with under 10 players, just fucking around trying to get some more people to join, the most we could do is get next to 20 for around an hour or so and then it's dead again. And even with all the faith in the world it's tiring to keep on trying and failing. Jazzman managed to get some people on by using regular maps, people thought "maybe this'll help get some of the population back", so we made it half-napalm half-escape, but nope, didn't last long either. What else is there to try now...? I'm of the opinion that CS:S hit its peak a while ago and started going downhill a little bit after GO came out. I'm aware of the reactions, that people didn't really like its ZE, that converting maps was a bitch, but time has passed and the game's started to take off. Taking some players from 1.6 and a hell of a lot more from CS:S, it's pretty clear who got the short end of the stick. Not only is it competing against 1.6 now, but against a game that's actually peaked higher than TF2, a f2p game, today (91,5k against 76k) and it's probably gonna keep rising for a while longer, only being a 1-year old game. People still playing CS:S are likely not newer players that we can attract, but older players that have already settled in with a community. And if they are newer players they aren't gonna join a dead server, so we're between a rock and a hard place for the majority of those CS:S servers. So all in all, more than ever we need to move forward. I'm not saying get rid of all the CS:S servers at once and staple them all onto GO, of course, but a slow transition. One or two servers at first, see if they work well, and see what we can do from there. Link to comment
Lupin Posted January 1, 2014 Content Count: 1086 Joined: 07/28/12 Status: Offline Share Posted January 1, 2014 Alright someone has said this before and I'm sure it will be said again. CSS is a dying game and having all these servers that don't have a steady population are not worth being paid for. We can't keep funding servers that don't bring the reason to keep funding the said server (ZE, Zriot, Cinema). Also bringing a server back to life through an event for a day or a few hours doesn't really bring the reason to keep it. To add players we need to add some new servers. Also I'm not saying to scrap every server that doesn't too well, I'm just saying a server that stays empty most of the week should be gotten rid of. ^. CSGO currently has 3x the amount of players CSS has atm. We could try a couple of servers on that and see if it it helps. A CSGO scrim server with plugins(?) may be nice. I know there's methods of pugging atm for csgo that's free(altpug), but some people may not want to download a 3rd party program? (idk). I'd honestly play CSGO scrim more than MM seeing as every other game has a cheater in it. Link to comment
Motox Posted January 1, 2014 Content Count: 1639 Joined: 09/22/13 Status: Offline Share Posted January 1, 2014 I agree with Eskomo. Maybe we should get a CS:GO server or a DayZ server. Definitely a DayZ server, if we're asking for Hunger Games server for Gmod, maybe the expansion of servers into different games will help build the community and players that could help fill up our dying servers. Just a thought, but personally I'd prefer a DayZ server. Link to comment
