You can put bacon into said ground beef at which point you would be putting bacon in hamburger, but that is not what you are suggesting. It is entirely possible to choose to surround a hamburger with things other than a bun, such as bread, or as was suggested earlier in this thread bacon. In fact you can go entirly bunless and not even in the "patty" shape ala Hamburger helper. At the end of the day this entire debate is more about language/regional slang than anything and as such there is no right answer. Although my opinion is the American way and I do believe we are considered the subject matter experts in the field of greasy and fatty foods. Link to comment
