I am looking to buy a new (or slightly used) car soon, which will be my first. I'll be putting an $2,000 down payment on the car to avoid having to have a co-signer because I do not have much credit at the moment.

My questions are:

- Is it true you'll be paying more money for parts if you buy a foreign made car?

- What are some nice sporty cars? By the way, I

I can afford anything $25,000 or less.

I just got a 08 ford focus...its a sporty design but when it comes to insurance its cheeper....it starts at 16k. I think fully loaded is 23k. Nice car...i had an 05 before and had a small computer malfunction that wasn't very expensive. Its a good car if you take care of it.

Why don't you care for the newer eclipses? I have a 08 Eclipse GT SE that I got for 30k out the door here, you can probably talk down the GT+Aero Kit for under 25k if you convince the dealer enough. Great sporty car...girls love it :001_tt1: The latter part of the first question is that most European car's come with a generous warranty along with the hefty price tag, however when your warranty expires you will be paying out the ass for service on those cars.

Eh I don't really care for the ford focus but it is a pretty cheap car. It's not the worst but it's a bit too small.

The style is just a tad different and don't really like it. It makes a huge difference for me. How long do the warranties usually last?

Was looking through some cars and I also

I understand what you feel about the style, I hated the style when I first saw the eclipse..thought it looked like a big bubble, but if you look at most of the car's out there now it gives the eclipse a more distinct and aggressive sporty look from the rest, I first hated it and now I love the shape and the car. The warranty is:

Basic Coverage: 5 yr. / 60000 mi. Roadside Assistance: 5 yr. / 999999 mi.

Free Maintenance: N/A / 999999 mi. Rust: 7 yr. / 100000 mi.

Drivetrain: 10 yr. / 100000 mi.

Since the 09's are coming in you can probably get a good discount on the 08's because the dealers are going to want to move them out asap.

I'd take half that money, put it into a "point A to B car", take the other half and put it into some treasury bills, securities, or some sort of low risk investments.

The problem with vehicles is that they depreciate, and quickly.

As for foreign cars, the additional price is due to importation taxes that are applied on certain luxuries in the US

Again, that is just me, and I'd personally prefer future income in this day and age as opposed to something that will not appreciate at all.

Eh not bad. I don't know - they're not that bad looking. Is there any of em with sun roofs?

Yeah you can get a fully loaded GT for around 28k MSRP and you can talk them down to under 25k from there...you need to go in and look because the new 09's are coming in and the MSRP for the Auto 5 Speed Sportronic is 25k w/o sunroof.
