jazzy Posted October 16, 2014 Content Count: 2187 Joined: 06/28/09 Status: Offline Share Posted October 16, 2014 the site in question asks you to login to steam and then steals your account using the username and password you just entered. so clearly they are getting around steam guard somehow. where's the evidence of that? the only person that got hacked was op's friend and he never said he had steamguard enabled or not, and even if he said that it doesn't necessarily make it true. Other SG members and my room mate have had this happen. Link to comment
Pan32 Posted October 16, 2014 Content Count: 1747 Joined: 03/17/12 Status: Offline Share Posted October 16, 2014 (edited) Pretty sure the only way you can spoof steamguard (that I know of) is by stealing the authentication key from your steam folder and emulate it on another steam client to trick steam to think its on a authorized client/device, but that requires actually retrieving info from your files. About phishing links, just always look for the VALVE secure lock before logging in. Edited October 17, 2014 by Pan32 Link to comment

I get it everytime I click on a link to steamgamers, since y'know, it says steam. Link to comment
