Eskomo Posted December 17, 2014 Content Count: 1070 Joined: 03/13/09 Status: Offline Share Posted December 17, 2014 (edited) Could set something up where an individual can purchase one single month of sub. So it wouldn't be recurring and not need a credit card attached to the account. Of course they would have to go through this process every month to remain subscriber. This man is trying to give us money, but is unable to due to the current setup and he may not be the only one in this situation. Many "subscription" sites offer alternatives to purchase one month or like larger increments of time in addition to signing up to pay once a month. You want to make it as easy as possible for individuals to donate. There are reasons to be against this idea, but the semantics of the word subscriber is not a very good one. Link to comment

While we are always open to take the donations, the setups are what they are. If someone is able to be setup as a subscriber, with the meaning that they regularly contribute automatically, then thats great. Theres also nothing stopping said person from cancelling after one month. Which at this point they really are just a donator. Its a lot of work for our management team to handle, even when we have it automated as much as we can. Now for those who have the "special" situation where they do not have credit cards or bank accounts tied to their paypal account for whatever reason. You probably should PM Xeno or Revenga and ask if a special case can be made where you donate the normal way and you are actually placed in the subscriber rank. This would entail special attention and special work, so just doing this every month would not be acceptable. I would recommend a possible "prepay" scenario where you would pay for 3 months at one time. Link to comment

Eskomo i'm not crashing down the idea, But what your talking about would make the Supporter Rank useless and have no meaning at all. Then everybody wants to be subscriber and just donate $5 every month on there own term. and i think thats not the point why they worked that hard to make a subscriber rank so people automaticly donate instead and have extra ability's. As i see i have to agree with spikedrocker. Link to comment

They are not a very good excuse, I agree. As people who ARE able to donate for it, can also just as easily cancel it right after and keep it for a month, making any semantics of "Subscribers always pay monthly" pretty much null. However, until we get more familiar with the way the plugin is working (Something TheVirus is working on figuring out right now) we can't customize the plugin yet. Once we are able to manipulate it's features, we will drag Subscriber perks to anyone who donates regularly for over $5. That will allow people to renew their Subscriptions on their own time, or someone who just wanted to donate can experience the perks of being a monthly donator. It's something we're working on putting in place but have no easy way of doing so. I apologize to Elemental while we are working to sort out a way to do this. While I would not mind handling his case specifically and letting him donate $5 regularly and setting him up with Subscriber, it's not something we can do for everyone for months on end because it would get extremely tedious.
